Alexandra Datig

Alexandra Datig is a political advisor and consultant who has a long-standing background with experience of more than 11 years with issues such as public safety, public policy, environmental issues, drug policy and human trafficking. She also specializes in media relations and political campaign consultation. Her political and community activism spans for over two decades.
Datig was recently an advisor to the Transition Team for California Attorney General Kamala Harris' subcommittee on Environmental Justice and is also one of the most outspoken voices of the opposition to the now defeated marijuana legalization initiative known as Proposition 19. She is now working with coalitions in various states opposing the legalization of marijuana and advises various opposition and prevention entities on the latest issues on drug policy, while working with some of the nations leading drug policy and prevention experts.
Datig also volunteers her time as an addiction counselor hosting the site www.fiveyearsfromnow.net and the CBS Los Angeles Most Valuable Blogger nominated www.commonsenserecovery.blogspot.com
Datig is also gathering national support for a new law "The Addiction Recovery and Protection Act."
Gaining her early experience in the political arena in the second largest city of the United States, the City of Los Angeles, has given Datig an extra edge. Since, Datig worked as a consultant on Los Angeles City Council campaigns, supervisory elections, ballot measures, state-wide campaigns, slates, as well as national initiatives and public awareness and information campaigns.
As a speaker on drug policy issues, human trafficking and environmental affairs she has appeared on TV and radio talk shows from CBS, NBC, FOX News, CNN, the History Channel, the Discovery Channel, Russian Television (RT) The Alyona Show, National Swedish Television,Japan TV, Live! with Dave! Diamond, Bill Bennett's Morning in America and others.
The defeat of Proposition 19 has given Datig the opportunity to work alongside some of the most influential individuals and organizations that are involved with the in-depth issues on drug policy, including the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), former Secretary of Education and U.S. Drug Czar, Bill Bennett, also the host of "Morning in America" (www.billbennett.com) as well as Dr. Bennett's Chief of Staff Seth Leibshon (www.leibsonandassociates.com), California Narcotics Officers Association (CNOA), Western States Vice Officers Association, The Department of Justice, Los Angeles County Sheriff LeRoy Baca, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, California Attorney General Kamala Harris, Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley and many others.
